Yeah, I chated with Matt early last week and he mentioned it to me. I hope they don't expect to get all th same visitor traffic Aslivertouch had as an online magazine because it's extremely hard the last year or two to atract people to these sites.

I was talking with Matt on Monday night, I think its going to be mainly a forum site with a news feed. Kinda like iamrider. Anything more is alot of work for little return IMO, but who knows.

I bookmark forum pages and hardly ever look at main pages on all the site I frequent.

Who knows what happened to Asilvertouch?

It was a damn good web magazine.

I don't think it's worth replacing it with another forum with newsfeed. There's lots of those and most of them were left as dead or simply ignored by users (trail eater, 418riders, dhqc and blablabla...).

I think a replacement of AST is needed because in Ottawa there's nothing else right now. AST didn't get much traffic on its forums, but there was enough local discussion that I think its worth replacing it.

Hey guys, just to explain PrivateerMtb a little further.

Asilvertouch was good for what it was and we do not see any reason to reinvent the wheel. Once we get up and running you can expect a similar product to what Asilvertouch offered only it will come in a different package. The site layout will change, but some of the same contributors are still involved. We will still be posting our own articles and editorials in addition to the news feeds that you can find on most any site. Also, where Camp Fortune management was posting updates on Asilvertouch, they will now be posting on PrivateerMtb.

We will be doing one thing that Asilvertouch did not. One of the major points of this site is to support the Ottawa/Gatineau community. Any advertising profit above the costs of hosting and running the site will be donated back to local causes. The way we see it is we can either keep a couple dollars per season, or we can pool that back together and support OMBA (Ottawa Mountain Bike Association) or sponsor stunts at Fortune.

Ottawa/Gatineau has its own issues and we are trying to create place where riders can get information and voice their opinions.

Thanks for posting the info and let us know when your up and running. Maybe we can share some info in the future so we can help out in your region. I live smack down between Bromont & Camp Fortune so I would like to see DH biking to stick around in the Ottawa region.

Last I heard (in March I think) they were still working on the site. Not sure what's going on now.

I'm on a thread from PB for older guys like me and some of them are from Montreal even 2 from Rigaud/St-Lazare which I invited over. Most of these guys ride like us XC, DH, road and we are seeing a bunch of new registered users. Kind of trying to make a nice little home here for riders in our age group but keep it a cool tight family.
