Finally we get some snow, not enough to ski or snowshoe but it's a good start at 20-30cm. A few more dumps and we should be good to go during the holidays.

J'essai de retrouver un comparatif que j'ai vu,mais j'y parviens pas.
Bottom line, les meilleurs pneus tester:

1. Michelin XI2 x-ice 2.
2. Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5

(me souviens plus des autres)

Theirs so many good winter tires out there compared to 10 plus years ago but with a 4 x 4 most winter tires wil do great. Subaru's have amazing traction control to start with as you aleady know and your model is a bit more heavy making your ride more stable. My Suburban always had 4 season truck tires and did great in winter on 4x4. I put on winter tires (Cooper's) 2 years ago and at 5300 lbs dry weight I honestly don't feel a difference in handling.

I use to love the original Bridgestone Blizzak's on my Honda Civic's with studs too, I managed to do 180kph in a storm up the 15 going skiing. Oh yeah, the car wasn't stock.

What I would really like on my truck for great traction is the BFGoodridge Mud-Terrain and say about 315/75R16 and the main reason I haven't done it yet is that they cost $335 each

Hey that's what the dealer recommended....until he realized they were sold out. Sweet price too.

Yeah, I'm buying my tires through the dealer. He's got the same rims as what comes stock on the car and gave me a decent deal on the tires. Gettin them installed next Wednesday.

Well seeing this is the snow thread here's a good one that happened to me yesterday.

I was heading back home from Home Depot in Vaudreuil on the T-Can and snowing like crazy with a shit load of tourists heading back to Ontario (ottawa). Right lane was black ice since most people stayed in it like sheep and the left lane was snow covered with good traction. I was in my truck with the trailer full of melamine sheeting (very heavy load) and opted to drive the truck in all wheel drive auto. Had one guy in front of me I was waiting on to move over but he spots the plow stopped in a U-turn so guess what the dumb ass did. He decides its ok to try and stop from 80kph in the left lane so the plow could get on the highway but the problem is there's me and many others behind him. I downshift in 3rd and tap the brakes but the ABS kicks in, so now I'm fast apprtaoching his ass and I pump the freaken brakes but my trailer starts to jack knife towards the right which is going to take out all the cars in that lane. OK John doesn't panic yet, I grab that steering and swing the truck to the right plus step on the gas to get my trailer to swing out on the left. I figured it's better to take out that fucker in front and go in the middle ditch only and not take anyone else from the right lane seeing they are all victims themselves. The guy in the plow by now was close enough I could see him in his cab freaking out at the dumb ass in front of me and he waved him to move on. I either missed the guy with my front bumper by 1" or I pushed him gently, I think I did touch him but he then got into the other lane white like a ghost and hanging on to that steering wheel with white knuckles.

500 m later some guy braked and spun out taking 6 cars with him and some with damage but I just drifted through. I wasn't scared but rather pissed at all the people on the roads that are so scared and do stupid manouvers.

If you can't drive in snow stay home before you kill someone.

Re:Snow! 2 years, 1 month ago #452

Exactly...stay the fuck home and let me have all the road to play in. If you see a car approaching from behind with a shitload of lights...It's me... so move the fuck over.

People just can't fucking drive anymore. It drives me nuts now. The left lane is considered the service road now!!!

70 car pileup on the 416 just outside of Ottawa

Re:Snow! 2 years, 1 month ago #454

Reminds me when I went to school in Ottawa. It was always shitty on Sunday nights. Driving 120km/hr in the left lane on the 417 and faggots driving 60km/hr with the hazards on in the right lane. Bunch of pansies!!!

Not surprised, the way people drive on that highway even on a clear summer day makes me wonder.

I strongly disapprove.
What you called "pansies" are "safe drivers" and they have much more chances to live healthier than you. How about riding a wheelchair or eating all your meals with a straw?

Don't care about security, huh? Looks like the testosterone is speaking for you, guys.

So, you all have "skills" to drive fast in harsh conditions? Hope it will not be at the expense of lives someday.
Remember that all the dead kamikazes you see on the frontpages of periodics used to have skills too.

Shame on you.
