Another week to go Tony? You should call the store to make certain their on the ball and not dragging their feet at NORCO otherwise you"ll be lucky to get the bike before snow starts. Been reading up on stupid delays from several places and Norco was one of them.

it still creaks!

nothing is loose, and it actually feels stiffer and smoother but I guess I'll have to take the fork off and grease all the contacting surface I can reach without removing the headset.
If it doesn't fix it, I'll ask the shop to fix it on the labor-warranty because I mention the problem and it's still there...!? do you guys got your creaking fixed?

hope to get a stealth bike in the end...

They received my new frame, I'll bring it in tomorrow.

Well, I got 4 nice fast runs in today at Bromont. Bike's running perfectly. Hopefully it'll last a bit longer than the last frame.

I thought I'd give you guys an update on my headset creak situation.

After a rainy ride, my Demo started creaking again, even with the new CK headset

So I spoke to Specialized, and they sent me a service bulletin that explains that using CK headsets in their frame can cause problems because of a loose press fit (nevermind I also had this problem with an FSA headset) anyways, Spec says its CK's fault. When I called CK, they laughed and said it was Spec's fault.

Anyways, the solution (as outlined in the service bulletin, sent to all bike shops) is to special order an oversize lower cup from CK. All I have to do it measure the frame to make sure CK sends me the right size....oh, and its not a warranty, I pay for it

Look at how much it costs to get just an extra year warranty on a computer.


But for sure, this is a poor way to solve a problem that is clearly a defect.

Meh, its a 3 year old bike and the problem is solved. I'm not going to push for a warranty on a bike that I didn't pay anywhere near full retail for. Also, for the record, this is the first warranty-related problem I've ever seen from Specialized that has been poorly handled.

I'm not a fan of using the web for consumer advocacy. If I was pursuing the issue, I wouldn't have posted anything at all until it was all settled.
