Yeah I know I'm stirring up an old debate that's been on other local forum's but most of those forums people are young and no experience.

So who rides with what? I have gone riding with clipless pedals on Road, XC & DH bikes but since last Fall I went flat on the DH & XC bike. The XC bike it was just to do a change but the DH bike I wanted to see if I could have more comfidence with flats. Aside from going through rock gardens I have a better control of the bike on the clipless pedals I find.

I just had a friend pick up some Wellgo MTB clipless pedals today. I was usung road bike VP pedals on my DH bike for several years but was not ever comfortable with those. I was told to get MTB clipless pedals and try again which is what I'll be doing this Monday. My XC/FR bike is staying with flats and of course the road bike with clipless as always.

I used to ride clipless way back in '95 (I had a sweet pair of Shimano 747's). Now I ride flats. My flats have set screws for traction and I find myself lifting up off the pedal if I need to readjust, so it's kind of like clipless I guess. My knees are way too messed up to continue riding clipless. Both knees crack every time I get up. I'm probably going to need surgery one of these days.

I'm doing to opposite, i just bought my first set of spds. They are the shimano DX ones so they still have a cage to be able to unclip and still have some where to put your foot. I also got a set of multi release cleats, they are much easier to unclip in an emergency and don't put as much strain of you knees. I haven't gone a proper DH yet my riding style my suit spds better than some of you DH jockeys.

I have always run straitline pedals and nike dunks. Fiveten in aus is quite had to come across. I'm waiting to Five ten to release their minnaar spd shoe. It's spd but with stealth rubber to get mega grip when unclipped.

I always consider clips are for cheater or the scared one, ive been riding bmx pedal since the beginning , and i always been thankfull for it when the donkey went wild.
Bmx pedal are the best it just need some ajustment or getting use to it in the beginning.

I rode xc with flat pedals for a couple years, but clips are definitely better. It's easy to get your ass kicked on a climb when your buddies are using clips and you're on flats.

I rode clips for DH for a couple years before switching to flats in '98. I then rode flats until 2006 when I went back to clips. For the past couple years I've been on clips. I don't miss flats at all.

les pedales a clips sont pour les tricheurs ,ceux qui savent pas vraiment tenir le velos , ou les peureux. qui veulent pas que le bike fasse partie du jeux , avec des clips ces plus un corps a corps comme avec des flats , ces sa que je voulais dire, desoler

And you write that people who want to cheat or are scared ride with clips? Wow, total opposite and clips on a DH bike in a rock garden are certainly NOT for a first timer on clips. I asked what people ride with, why they do and what they prefer. I didn't ask what you think of other people and why they use clips.

Clips I just got are stiff as hell unless I unscrew the tension almost all the way so flats tomorrow and clips on the small bike to XC this week.

A-Line = flats & skate shoes
One25 = Clips & Diadora XC shoes
Road = VP clips & Shimano road shoes

Rode the DH bike yesterday with clipless pedals for the first time this season at Bromont and it was way better. On the flowy trails I felt like the bike and I where one again also was way fast.

c'est vraiment en low-speed sur des sections techniques que je suis content d'être revenu en flat! mais les clip m'on fait progresser comme jamais...une fois parti pour un stunt TU ARRÊTE PAS T'ES CLIPPÉ! en flat tu as toujours l'option EJECT comme sité plus haut mais je garde le réflexe de TU ARRÊTE PAS! un autre avantage au clip, t'es sur de pas perdre une pédale juste avant un drop ou autre...quoique...j'ai déjà été pogné pour dropper clipper d'un bord et j'ai clipper l'autre pied au landing...des Time Z-Pedal ça sauve le show!

je les ai encore et rien dis que je ne vais pas revenir au clip un moment donné mais le seul défaut des clip qui m'a fait aller vers les flat c'est les maudits soulier «DH» que les semelles s'arrachent après un été! à 180$ la paires ça fait royalement $%#%?!

I run fiveten freeride with V12 flats.... survey says......This is a winning combonation!!!

I have had zero issues so far this season wearing clipless and it has helped me lots for my technical riding. Even yesterday taking a bad spill upside down the clipless unclipped without thinking about it.
